Fear of the dark

I did it. I made a ‘Looking for Corporation’ post. The only problem now is, that I haven’t posted it yet.
I can’t decide on whether I want to have my main (this guy) or the alt that I have in RvB in a WH.

Logic dictates that I should do it with my main character. He’s most skilled, almost able to jump into strategic cruisers and in general the character I like playing with the most.

But will this fact not change when I am no longer able to go out without the “fear” to lose a ship.
Because this is what this is all about, I’m afraid of the life beyond High-sec, I never even went anywhere but high sec for longer than a few hours.

Fear of the unknown is something most humans deal with, and I’m dealing with it in a game.
I’m trying to do what most people in high sec are afraid of doing, and that’s taking that step towards the other life. Where danger lurks everywhere. Or at least that’s what us carebears think it does. Maybe I’m exaggerating, maybe I’m not.

But I have to make a decision
  • DO IT! The game is so much better outside of highsec!

  • The dangers of low and null are overrated. It isn't so much that so-called carebears are afraid of low/null it's more like why bother with it any more than you have to?

  • Well I'm only talking about it in my own point of view. I hate the idea of losing ships, which is why I don't like the idea of low/null. But I want to get away from that mindset

  • This might be what you are looking for:
the dangers of null sec, solo play – and pacifists?!
Here is a bit about my experience venturing out of hi sec:

  • Definately going to check out your blog but the corporation is not what I'm looking for 😀
I'm actually searching for a way to get out of my comfort zone of no PvP 😉

hmm… my time in RvB was instrumental in losing the fear of losing ships. I'm surprised it didn't work with you?

  • I think the problem with that was the fact that the ships I lost in RvB where pretty cheap, I had over 100 kestrels and a few destroyers, I still have about 50 of those. That I didn't lose.

So my fear lies mostly with the fear of losing the more expensive ones.

my most expensive lost in RvB was a 66 mil BC vs a wartarget (ie a foe of RvB in total) but I regularly lose 20 mil cruisers. Ultimately, don't fly what you can't afford to lose, but if you don't risk flying ships you *can* lose, you've effectively lost them – not to enemy fire but your hesitation.
