On the move

I did a lot of jumps last night before heading to bed.

I’ve been looking for a corporation for a while now with a friend of mine, either to go back to wormholes, or have a look at Sov Space.
Yesterday our search came to an end when we(well my friend first) decided to join a null sec corporation. So I spent the last of my evening before I headed out to bed last night, jumping down to their staging system in order to start figuring out what’s different in sov space null today;

From what I’ve seen so far the corporation seems an easy going and fun one. Here’s hoping that the CTA’s don’t mess with me too much. But it’s easy to move out anyhow, we’ll see how it goes.

My trading has come to somewhat of a standstill due to the fact that prices of the implants I was buying and selling on one of my alts has dropped quite a bit. If I were to sell them at the price they’re currently at I would be selling them with too much of a loss. So I decided to put a pause on it for now and wait for the prices to go up again.

My manufacturer however is still happily chugging along with her industry jobs. They currently make up for most of my income, with all my manufacturing and trading of the past month I made about 2.2 billion.

Along with the fact that I sold the Tengu pilot again (for 2b more than I bought it last month) I made about 14b in total. So I currently have way too much liquid ISK.

But I started training for capital production, once I get my skills up a bit I’ll be looking into that some more.

A milestone of sorts

 A hundred, the number of posts that this blog currently contains (with this included) so this post, is a milestone for me.
I have been blogging for a year and a half now, some of my posts being fun to write, others were written because I felt like I had to put something on here. I’ve had a few people contact me ingame telling me they liked my blog which made me smile, and other people comment on my posts asking why I did certain things. 
Like at the very beginning people asking me why I called myself a noob despite having a ton of ISK at hand.
Writing about EvE helped me in figuring out certain aspects of the game and made me into a better player. I am still very much a noob (as my wormhole adventures show) but I’m learning and enjoying what I do in the game, which is what matters.

I spent a long time writing about high-sec and my industry, some of my null sec parts and now wormhole space. There are still so many things to explore and I plan on getting there eventually, it might take some time but I’ll get there.

Thank you, dear reader, for sticking with me. Or hello new reader and welcome to my blog. Some of my posts might be boring but I hope that some of the other blogs will make you smile or at least think about your own time in EvE.

I have no idea what my future in the game might hold but I will try and continue writing about it, as long as there’s one person reading, I’ll be a happy camper.

Now, onto the other stuff!

Last week I decided to dust off my Rens and Amarr traders again, so I’ve been doing some station trading and experimenting with items I used to buy and sell over there.
I’ve had moderate success and made a slight profit for now, so that’s good. 

Seeing as I browse reddit from time to time I came across a post from the creator(s?) of Eve-mogul giving people the opportunity for an extended trial of their tool and I have to admit that I’m impressed with it. It’s not really giving me all the options that I might want or need (seeing as I do both trading and manufacturing from a few accounts) but if you’re into trading, why not go check it out. 
I’m not sure if they still offer the extended trial but new accounts get 7 days, which isn’t bad either.

As for the wormhole life it’s boring from time to time, but I talked with my friend and we’re looking into joining an alliance, or atleast find a few other people we can chat with. If you, my dear reader, have any suggestions, feel free to shout it out to me. I’m always up to meeting new people!

Other pastures

Last week, a friend I made in EvE told me that I should join the corporation he had joined. He’s been talking about it for a few weeks now ever since he moved into Wormhole space and he said that I should try it too. Seeing that it might give me an opportunity to come out with my combat character some more.

Fast forward to Monday and I am accepted into the corporation, all I had to do was get myself a few ships and move to the wormhole.
“Who needs a scout, I can handle this!”

Something that I did yesterday, I bought myself a few frigates, a destroyer and a battleship and spent about an hour and a half moving one ship after the other into the wormhole. It gave me something to do, it even had me thinking about fits. Although I have to admit that it didn’t help me in thinking too hard about them since once I figured I was settled I noticed I had forgotten dampeners and ammo (woops)

Joining a wormhole corporation is something that I talked about in the past, I even thought I had joined one before but turned out that they were actually high sec mission runners like myself who happened to have a POS in a hole that they went to from time to time. Which is cool, but not what I wanted. What I wanted was to live inside one, and not just alongside one.

Hopefully my move will allow me to experience this side of the game from close-by instead of just reading about it. It’s scary, because I can’t scan to save my life, but I guess that just means I’ll have to learn.

Other than the wormhole move and figuring out what’s next on my list in the new corporation, I will be using this weekend to run a few tests on my industrialist. I’ll be updating my way out of date spreadsheet, to check if I still make a profit (because who counts this stuff psh!) and whether or not it’s more profitable for me to stay in my POS, or if I should just tear it down and start working from a station.

If the prices aren’t too high for my manufacturing and invention I might just tear down my POS and just use the headquarters. Seeing that having a POS means spending 500m a month in fuel. So if the cost of working from station isn’t too high, I can just start doing that.

While creating T2 items I noticed a slight decrease in the market movement of some of the modules I make. Meaning that I’ve been scratching a few of the list in the past couple of days. I still have a few thousands blueprints that I’ll have to invent (holy crap why did I make so much copies of everything) but once those are all done, I’ll be checking which I liked creating the most and, of course, where most of my profits came from.

So plenty to do and figure out for me in the next couple of weeks!

Making it work

Well, that’s it for me, I not longer have any T2 BPC’s to manufacture.

One of my biggest problems due to lack of time in EvE is that my T2 manufacturing is taking hits from it too. I’m making a profit, but my profit isn’t big enough, I made about 500m after expenses in April. That’s not nearly enough to make me happy.

And unfortunately I don’t see it changing in the near future.

I need to find some new way to make ISK. Something that’s easy and doesn’t take too much time…

The answer to that is Trading. But I don’t feel like trying it again. Despite the fact that if you’re good at it, you don’t have to spend too much time a day doing it (ten minutes or so). But that’s if you’re good at it, and I wasn’t. I made a profit, but I made it slowly, it took me about 2 months to make 1b out of 100m and another month to turn that 1b into 2b.

Those numbers aren’t bad, to the contrary even. But I spent way too much time to get there. Instead of spending a few minutes, I spent a few hours a day updating orders, checking what to buy, what to sell. And I relocated four or five times in that timeframe. It wasn’t the fun I envisioned it should have been.

But maybe I’ll try again, I have 600m on my trader that I’m not using and 14b on my industrialist. Guess I should make the ISK work.

Efficiency is not part of my vocabulary

I am nowhere near as efficient in my manufacturing as I should and can be. I tend to restock my products at the last moment. I click ok on my assembly line, and suddenly notice that I’m missing R.A.M. tech, or Tritanium, or any of the other things I need, to complete my process.

I really should just have a large stock of everything, but I’m lazy. Although one could argue that if I really was lazy, I’d actually have a big stock, because that would mean that I would not have to go to Jita as often as I am doing now. But the lazyness is translated more to the fact that I don’t feel like calculating/checking what everything is that I need, buying it, and afterwards getting it all to my home base.

But I should put up more buy orders, I have zero of those, and that’s a bad thing.

Trading in general is something I am not doing right now, my little experiment did give me a bit of playroom, I made about 1b from the 100m I invested in it. But I wasn’t too good at it, it took me too much time to figure out what I should buy and sell, that I just decided to not do it for now.

I do have a few buy orders on my trading alt, mostly for implants, because they keep on selling anyhow. But shh, I never said this, we’re not supposed to give away our secrets.

The past week I was able to have my net worth go up by 300m, and I have absolutely no idea how that happened, because I just did some manufacturing, then again, this week I actually did manage to make sure that every line was occupied so maybe I did good on that part.

Now to find a way to use this ISK, to make more ISK.

As a little sidenote; I’ve been thinking about trying something new, corporation wise.
My industry alt is in a corporation of her own, but it’s pretty lonely. I want to join some other corp, in which I can still do my manufacturing etc, but I don’t like the idea of giving up my POS. Anyone have an idea of what I could try?

State of play

It’s been a few days since I last logged in. Work, real life and so on making it problematic to find time to do so.

Which of course, meant that in the past week and a half, my characters have been idling, not producing anything, not doing any trading, and not doing any missions.

Logging in today I planned on changing that, so I logged onto my combat alt. I check my mails, find out we’re in a war and curse, seeing as he’s hanging around in Jita and can’t actually do much other than spin. Oh well, on to the next account and character.

I decided a while ago, that I really suck at trading, and that I don’t really like spending too much time on doing it. So I logged onto the trader, checked his buy orders, noticed how much lower everyone else’s sell orders are suddenly at, and logged out. Sooner or later the prices will go up again, and I don’t feel like selling at such a low price, despite still making a slight profit. 

Seeing as I don’t feel like using the trader much, I’m not actually losing any money on not trading yet, it’s all part of my so called plan.

After the trader, comes the industry alt and my POS. I’m lucky enough to have a few people who I can count on. Because otherwise my POS would have ran out of fuel last week. I wasn’t able to log on due to constant disconnects so asked a friend on steam if he could refuel our POS. Which he did, and I paid him back the fuel, yay. As for the use of the POS. I noticed a few copy runs being completed, and am happily inventing again.

I might just try something new and buy a few billion worth of materials to do a bit of experimenting on T1 production. Past 8 or 9 months have been spent on T2, might as well change things a bit. Which would mean  not using the research slots for invention but for research, so there’s multiple positive sides in that.
My day will probably exist of going to Jita, buy what I need, going back to HQ, figure out I forgot a bunch, and so on.

Despite writing everything down, and going to Jita thinking; “Ok, I know I haven’t forgotten anything” I always do forget things.

I bet I’m not the only one getting frustrated when you get back to HQ noticing you’re missing a few million units of Tritanium.

More or less than bargained for

We all know that I’m bad in logistics. So bad in fact, that when I decide to create a certain amount of T2 items, and I finally calculated everything I need. I still forget things. Despite the fact that I actually use said calculation, have it sitting right next to me when checking the market and making orders.

And yet every single time I forget something in my whole process. Last time I made about 1000 T1’s to build further into T2’s.. I thought I had everything, I had the materials, the product, everything except the one vital part that I didn’t think of at the time.

I had forgotten to turn on my invention process for the BPC’s… You can imagine the facepalm I made at that time.

Now we’re a while later and I’m happily chugging along in my manufacturing process, about 100 products get made every other day and I invent enough to keep the lines going.

It’s only one character, 10 research and 10 manufacturing jobs, but it keeps me very busy.
I can’t imagine what it would be like if I had multiple characters creating things. Can’t imagine what else I’d forget.

So tell me, what is the one thing you always forget? Are there times you go to a trade hub with something in mind, and then come back empty handed, or with more than you needed, but not actually the one thing you were there for?

How do you EvE?

I’ve seen these going around the EvE blogosphere and on Reddit the past week or so, and I figured I’ll join in.
Don’t mind the mess

So this is how I EvE. My current setup is two screens, on the one screen I usually have all of my clients running, and I just switch between windows, and the other is for my Facebook, Twitter, eve-central, steam chat and so on.

There are times when I use one of my notebooks along but I don’t have enough room on my desk for now. I switch between clients because I usually don’t play on all my account at the same time. The only time that I have two on the same grid is if I’m doing missions and the other one is cleaning up behind him in her Noctis.
As shown in my first sentence, I too am a Redditor, and I browse /r/eve quite a bit when I’m supposed to be sleeping, or when I just woke up. 

While browsing the topics this morning I came across a gem of a post, someone asking for stories to tell to people in order to get them to play eve.

One post in such topic got my attention and brought a smile on my face while reading it. This guy took his time, writing down all kinds of different reasons on why to play eve, and it gets through to the gist of the game.

I’m not sure what my gameday today will be, I was planning of taking out one of my mission runners and having my second one finally undock and join him. But the corps I’m in is at war so I’m not too keen on taking my shiny, shiny Machariel out of undock.

Maybe I’ll go back to scanning a bit.

Christmas and EvE

As most of you may know, today is Christmas. A time for sharing, caring, family and gifts.
The last part being the most important one for a big amount of the population. All because we as humans love receiving new things and are pretty egocentric when push comes to shove.

CCP did something nice within their Icelandic folklore and the celebration of Christmas for the players. They introduced us to the Yule lads. Born from a troll mother these little creatures are used to scare kids and steal things instead of giving. And thus it came to no surprise that a lot of the gifts we received from the advent calendar, was seen as something worthless. Until yesterday, the 24th, the last day before Christmas. Everyone rejoiced as we got ourselves snowballs and the Leopard. A nimble shuttle with an amazing warp speed of 20 A/U. The trolls delivered.

And how!
I spent half of my day yesterday driving through the country with my little sister, she needed a place to store her 700+ Pokémon cards and I was a bit bored so I shrugged and said why not. At the one store we found that had what she wanted I bought her a Christmas present, to her great joy. Unfortunately for her she’s not allowed to open it until this evening when we’re having our family dinner, yes, I’m evil like that.

As for Christmas EvE, it was spent at my girlfriend’s place, along with her parents and brother and sister, food, Wii and ice cream. It could have been fun, but it wasn’t, mostly because I’m not a big fan of a family get together, and I kept on thinking: “I could have spent my time better on EvE”

Which, would have been a lie, mostly because I barely undock, and when I do, I seem to find myself a bug.
Today’s plan is easy, this evening I’m spending my time at home, with my parents, my girlfriend, my two sisters and my youngest sister’s boyfriend, eating soup, roast, homemade tiramisu and who knows what else.

But during the day, I will be spending my time in front of my computer. Trying out Exploration once more, while my girlfriend is sitting behind me, getting frustrated with her exam material. Seeing that she’s in her last year of college and her exams are coming up she spends most of her waking hours studying. 
Which is good for me, more EvE time and less girlfriend agro.

I decided on trying out wormhole exploration once more today, I’m going to try and get to null sec. I’ll have a relic and data analyzer equipped in my little Cheetah, seeing that I also want to see what happens when I find one in null or any low system I get to.

What do you mean, I’m already there? I didn’t even get time to blink
